Love Locks or Love padlocks are a custom by which padlocks are attached to a fence, gate, bridge or similar public fixture by lovers, to symbolize their everlasting love. In the pictures below you see Love Locks affixed to the ropes of Butchers' Bridge on river Ljubljanica in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

In India and Pakistan probably people tie knots of different laces of clothes on shrines for such purposes i think. But i found the locks here more interesting. I don't know how much of them will get their love after doing that or sustain their love ?
You are right, but know by God grace and Ulama efforts most people stopped going to shrines and tying the knots. Don't think the locks will work for them.
