Eudocima materna-Owlet Moth

Eudocima materna is a moth of the Noctuidae family (Owlet Moths), commonly known as Fruit Piercing Moth. They are medium sized moth with a wingspan of about 60 mm. The adult moth has fawn forewings with a variable pattern of pale and dark lines and patches. The hind wings are bright yellow to orange, with a broad dark border having white spots and a dark spot in the middle. The adult is an agricultural pest on citrus and other fruit. It damages the fruit by piercing it with their proboscis in order to suck the juice. The larvae feed on Menispermaceae species, including Roundleaf Vine and Snake Vine.

Castor Semi-Looper Moth

The Castor Semi-Looper (Achaea janata) is a species of moth in the family Noctuidae (owlet moths). It has a wingspan of about 50mm. It has light and dark brown patterned forewings, and black and white hindwings. They are called  Castor Semi-Looper Moth, because their caterpillars known as costar semi-looper, feed on costar plant and move by looping.

Owlet Moth - Asota ficus

Asota ficus is a moth of the subfamily Aganainae, family Noctuidae (Owlet Moths). It's a wing span of about  60mm. Its larva feeds on Ficus species, which makes the larva and moth distasteful to predators.

Acontia lucida

The Acontia Lucida (Pale Shoulder) is a moth of the Noctuidae family (Owlet Moths) found in Pakistan. It's a medium-sized moth with wingspan about 25-30 mm. When at rest, it resemble bird dropping and that is why it is known as bird dropping moth. The resemblance to bird droppings provide them protection against predators. A picture of bird dropping for comparison is given at the end.
