Flower Wasp

The Flower Wasp here is commonly know as Blue-black Flower Wasp or Hairy Flower Wasp belong to family Scoliidae. It has a black hairy body, orange colored antennae and shiny blue wings. The adult wasp feeds upon nectar and thus helps in pollination. The larvae act as important bio-control agents, feeding upon beetle larvae in the ground.

The Lahore Zoo (1872), Which is the fourth oldest in the world and 2ng largest in South Asia. is also situated here. Lahore is known is the city of gardens. It has many beautiful parks and gardens including Shalimar Gardens, Lawrence Gardens, Hazuri Bagh, Iqbal Park, Mochi Bagh, Gulshan Iqbal Park, Model Town Park, Race Course Park, Nasir Bagh Lahore, Jallo Park, Wild Life Park, and Bagh-e-Jinnah. Lahore is also famous for its delicious foods. To facilitate and attract of tourists, food streets have been established at Gawalmandi, Anarkali, and Fort Road. Wagah border is also an important and actrictive place for the tourists. The flag downing ceremony at Wagha border is very entertaining to visitors.

After mating the female lays 10 to 400 eggs, depending on the species. Eggs are typically deposited in a frothy mass that is produced by glands in the abdomen. This froth then hardens to form a papery like case to protect praying mantis eggs inside. The praying mantis egg case is know by a number of names including ootheca, egg pods or egg sack or egg sac.  Different species of praying mantis have different types of egg cases. The honey bee, Apis mellifera (European Honey Bee, Western Honey Bee), is one of several species of bees in the family Apidae, that produce honey. They are native to Europe and Africa, but now is distributed worldwide, because of their use in beekeeping. There are about 28 dozen recognized subspecies of Apis mellifera.
In Pakistan, thee are four species of honey bees. In which 3 species Apis dorsata, Apis cerana, and Apis florea are indigenous. The forth species Apis mellifera, is imported and established in Pakistan.
Beekeeping is a profitable business in Pakistan. About 7,000 beekeepers are now rearing exotic species, Apis mellifera in the modern beehives. There are about 300,000 colonies producing 7,500 metric ton honey annually. Congenial climate conditions and bee flora in the country provide excellent opportunities for the expansion of beekeeping. Honeybee flora is present on vast areas in all the provinces including Northern areas, FATA and AJK and can support 1,000,000 honeybee colonies. Pakistan Agricultural Research Counci (PARC), is playing an important role by providing training to the individuals and groups of various organizations and also arrange special training courses on request.
