Glassy Bluebottle - Graphium cloanthus

The Glassy Bluebottle (Graphium cloanthus) is a swallowtail butterfly (Family: Papilionidae) found in Northern Areas and Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It has a wingspan of about 80 – 90 mm.

  1. It is beautiful, i bet the greenish portion is much greener than that in the actual color. We have G sarpedon, but it is very difficult to photograph. What are its larval food? thanks.

  2. Thanks Andrea for the feedback. I think the color variation is a natural phenomenon with respect to regions. Personally, I don't have much information about this species, as I saw and shot this butterfly for the first time in my life. Due to shortage of time, I was not able to observe it completely. After a search on the net, I found that the larval host plants are Cinnamomum camphora, Persea odoratissima and Persea thunbergii in the family Lauraceae and Michelia alba in the family Magnoliaceae.
