Giant Water Scavenger Beetle (Hydrophilus triangularis) is a species of semi-equatic beetles in the family Hydrophilidae.
Wow, that's one ferocious looking beetle! Birdy, I just did a post on leaf beetles, not much text, mostly photos. When I was googling I came across pictures of a similar mating pair in your blog. Thought I'd let you know. Hope you'll come and check out my images!

How big is this? It is very similar to a bug I recently found crawling in my lawn (not by any water); it was a little over 1 1/2 inches long.
ReplyDelete@ anonymous, I also found it outside the water. Not 100% sure about the size, but I guess both the bugs are almost of the same size.
