Silver-striped Hawk Moth

The Silver-striped Hawk Moth (Hippotion celerio) is a moth of the Sphingidae family. They are also known as vine hawk moth or grapevine hawk moth, may be because grape vine is one of the host plants for the Silver-striped Hawk Moth caterpillar/larva.

Sunflower Field

I shot the Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) field pictures a few weeks ago, but didn't post them in the hope of getting some better photos. The sunflower season is almost over and being a lazy person, I could not get more pictures. Due to poor light I have to re-expose the pictures for a better view. Our farmers grow sunflower in a very small quantity for their personal use. The seeds are crushed into oil locally. After frying the crude oil, it's used as edible oil without any further treatment or process.

Robber Flies

The robber flies are insects in order Diptera, family Asilidae. There are a number of species that vary greatly in color and appearance. All robber flies are predaceous, lying in wait for victims. Robber fly prey on insects such as wasps, bees, beetles, butterflies and dragonflies etc. The robber fly jabs its strong pointed proboscis into prey's back to inject the neurotoxic saliva to paralyze it and then sucks the juices out. Robber flies can deliver a painful bite to human, if handled roughly.

Purple Wildflower

I don't know the exact name of this purple wildflower, however it looks like "Rose vervain and Sweet rocket", but still very different and beautiful. It looks like a flower of flowers from the top. The petals have a special pattern, three petals joined together are in one shape, having relatively wide size, while the remaining two are some how narrow in shape.

Man Taking a Rest

A labor is taking rest under the shade in a local park to restore his energy. Due to high temperature it's very difficult for the labors to work continuously for long time in the scorching sun.

Bed Bugs Pictures

A bedbug or bed bug (Cimex lectularius) is a small nocturnal insect of the family Cimicidae that lives by feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded hosts. Its name comes from its preferred habitat i.e. mattresses, carpets, sofas and wooden furniture. Bedbugs are mainly active at night. Bed bugs are becoming a great problem with us as we don't have any effective method to control them. Most of the insecticides available in market are not effective against bed bugs, may be because of their low quality.
