Ant Lion

Ant lions (Antlions) are a family of insects in the order Neuroptera, classified as Myrmeleontidae. Ant lions are named for the predatory nature of the larvae (called doodlebug) which trap ants and other small insects in pits dug into the ground.

It's quite a beautiful little insect. I used to admire them in my parent's garden.

Thanks Osaid for your comment and appreciation.

Thanks Robyn for the comment. When I was a kid, I used to enjoy feeding ants to antlion larva (doodlebug).

Thanks for the comment Tricia.

I've never seen this creature before, looks similar to dragonflies.

Hi Zunnur!
Thanks for the comment. You are true, antlions look similar to dragonflies and damselflies.
