Green Lacewings

Green lacewings are insects in the large family Chrysopidae of the order Neuroptera. It is interesting that lacewings are reared and sold as biological control agents of aphids, mites and scale insects in agriculture and gardens. The species found in our area is the Common Green Lacewing (Nothancyla verreauxi), which belong to subfamily Apochrysinae.

Here are pictures of Green Lacewing Eggs, I found after half an hour search. The females Lacewings lay eggs singly or in small groups on stems or leaves near aphid colonies. Eggs are oval and pale green in color. Each egg is attached to the stem or leaf  by about 1 cm long thread-like stalk. The eggs take about four days to hatch.

Really amazing shots. I know I've probably said that before, but you just keep posting such amazing shots. If I tried that I would just end up with a blur. That's why I usually use pics other people take. ;)

Thanks Tricia for the compliment. You are a fair minded person. You write well and I'm 100% sure that if you start photography that will be even more amazing then your writing.

Great Shots interesting that you say they are sold as pest control much better than chemicals

Thanks Philips for sharing your view about my post. Not only lacewings, but some other insects such as Praying mantids are also used as pest control.

Great shots. My wife is a professional photographer. She has been passing down her old equipment to me, so I have been playing a little.

Hi Larry!
Thanks for the comment and liking the pictures. Being the husband of a professional photographer, I think you must be a professional photographer, as the students always supersede the teacher in the long run.
